At the end of the final campfire, each sub camp leader lit a torch from the campfire

and led us back though the camp in a torchlight procession to the Flag Poles for flag down.

The Flags were lowered and one country at a time the flags were returned to the Camp Chief - to be raised at the next International Jamboree.

As the flags were retired the sound of bagpipes filled the air playing the modern pipetune ' Highland Cathedral '. Suddenly a roman candle burst into 5 glowing stars to the east of the flagpoles, then another to the west and another to the east and suddenly the whole woodland in front of us lit up with fireworks. The view of the circle of flagpoles lit from the woodland behind was a really spectacular ending to the camp.

The fireworks continued until the pipes faded and our Scotscamp'97 came to an end.

No-one present will forget Scotscamp'97 at Fordell Firs and already plans are being made to arrange another in 1999 at Auchingillan, Glasgow - and all my Scouts plan to be there!!!!!
