It was a great pleasure to continue our links to the Cay Noya Group in
Amersfoort with the visit to Scotland of the Nairana Stam.
The Stam is the older Section of the Scout Group, we would call them Ventures, but in the Netherlands, they call them the Stam
Each Stam Unit is self organising with members from around 16 years of age to 22 years of age
The Nairana Stam is a Zeeverkenner (Sea Scout) based unit with their own boat which they maintain and sail.
Each Stam Group takes a name. The Cay Noya Stam have taken the name of a battleship, called the NAIRANA. This ship was originally built on the Clyde, Scotland
Many of the Stam we had met before on our previous trips to the Netherlands, so they felt at home staying in our HQ.
Sander, one of the Stam, his sending me photographs of the visit. So far he has only sent one!

"While we were in your scouting building, we often sat on the back side of
the building talking and deciding what to do".
The members of the Stam decide as a unit their program. They had a lot of ideas which we were able to help with and also to add a few things they had not thought of!
Amongst the activities were
It was very interesting to see the professional approach of the Stam. Their organisation was first class and gave us a lot of ideas for improving our own Venture Unit.
The obvious friendship which was evident between our own Ventures and the Stam proves the value of these exchange programmes which hopefully, will continue in the future
This camp was only possible through the generosity of
Youth in Europe
as well as many friends and colleagues.
